Cummins Inc. is offering a Supply Chain Graduate Development Opportunity in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

The purpose of Sale graduate will help potential customers understand, compare, and contrast the solutions that are available for buying (the pre-sales role); to troubleshoot problems with their implementations — that is, to help ensure that the solutions work successfully once the buying decision has been made (the post-sales role) and to maximize sales.

  • To support daily operations and site projects across in one or more logistics functions (such as transportation and warehousing)Ensures internal and external customers' expectations and requirements are met.

  • Works within assigned functional discipline to assist with improvements in common functional processes and tools.

  • Maintains updates and accuracy of information documented in functional databases, websites, etc.Assists with management of assigned projects.

  • Relationship Management - Develops rapport, builds trust, and creates value in relationships. Identifies networking opportunities and effectively communicates across functions, BU's, and with both internal and external business partners.



  • Supply Chain Knowledge - has knowledge of how the supply chain functions work to meet our end customer’s requirements.

  • Inventory Control And Management - Understand inventory control and management principals and how they impact the local and global supply chain.

  • Understand how the inventory management principles and objectives must tie together to insure continuity in the supply chain.

  • Analytical Reasoning - Applies basic research methodologies and statistical analysis to solve problems. Synthesizes and analyzes low to moderately complex data, information and evidence in order to draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Attention to detail - Pays attention to all the details of what is communicated, either written, orally, or presented. Able to break down requirements to task level to enable accomplishment. Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.

  • Project Management -Familiarity with the basic elements of each area of knowledge and its relevance to Project Management.

  • Transportation Network Design And Analysis - basic awareness and understanding of network design and analysis.

  • Freight optimization - basic understanding of freight optimization.

  • Domestic and International Transportation - has an awareness that there are regulations, process, required documents, and options with transporting materials domestically and internationally.

  • Warehouse operations - basic understanding of warehouse operations.

  • Innovate - Some knowledge or awareness of innovation. Approaches problems with curiosity and open mindedness. Generates new ideas within area of responsibility. Contributes own perspective in collaborative innovation efforts.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, presentation) to all levels of the organization.

  • Effective team work and multi-tasking skills.


  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Logistics or Supply Chain.
