At Cummins Power Systems we recognise that having experience of the working world during your university degree provides a key insight to the practical application of your learning. We run an exciting 13 month placement where you are given an opportunity to work in a role and on real projects, making a difference in both your team and the company as a whole.

In this role you will support the Programme Management Team in the implementation of a portfolio of power generation projects for a large UK based customer, as part of the Cummins Project Design and Implementation Department. You will support the Risk Management and Change Management processes whilst maintaining procedures, tools and communication channels that enable the management of the programme. You will be working closely with the Programme Management Team and other Cummins teams to help address customer and business objectives regarding time, cost and scope, as set in the programme. This role is particularly suited to a student who wishes to understand how to manage a broad portfolio of projects for a large power generation customer.

  • Support the Programme Risk Management by working with stakeholders to help implement established mitigation plans and capture new risks;

  • Assist the Programme Management team with the Change Management process;

  • Work with the Project Planner and Project Managers to support planning requirements;

  • Support analysis at project and programme level;

  • Coordinate the implementation of lessons learnt working with stakeholders from key functions, other large programmes/customers and Cummins globally;

  • Develop, maintain and improve processes and tools underpinning the Programme;

  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Programme communication channels;

  • Work closely with an external Project Management consultant to support communication;

  • Learn and get involved in other activities to develop business skills.

As part of the Placement Programme, you will be given a detailed work-plan along with structured quarterly reviews with your manager on your progress. You will also be provided with internal Cummins training and other training if applicable.

To be eligible for our 13 Month work placement you must be a university student who has a placement year option as part of their degree programme. You will spend a year in a specific department to gain real experience in your subject area. You are supported by formal and informal training, and work on projects that add true value to the business.
