Placement - Facilities (Environmental)


This role will be providing first line support for the sites’ Environmental team. It’ll include leading and supporting environmental projects across the site, assisting in maintaining the sites’ ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards and will include supported exposure to internal and external auditing events.

The successful candidate will be expected to assist with maintaining and controlling documentation related to the management standards and working on analysis of the sites’ environmental data.

They will be working on understanding business changes, supporting continuous improvement and will have the opportunity to communicate the sites’ environmental performance to all levels of the organization. If needed, they will provide training where possible and will be expected to support day-to-day administration & operations, and will be providing providing support for all members of both the Facilities Environmental team & Facilities Department..

Working as part of the Facilities Environmental team at the Daventry Plant you will be expected to take on a variety of roles and tasks, taking responsibility of key areas. These include:

  • Providing first line support for the site’s Environmental team – this includes leading and supporting any environmental projects across the site.

  • Assist in maintaining the site’s ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, including supported exposure to internal and external auditing events.

  • Maintain and control documentation related to the standards.

  • Analyse the site’s energy data.

  • Understand business changes and support continuous improvement.

  • Communicate the site’s environmental performance to all levels of the organization and provide training where possible.

  • Support day-to-day administration.

  • Conduct day-to-day operations, providing support for all members of the Facilities Environmental department.

Training Provided

  • A comprehensive induction programme which will include in-house training.

  • Regular reviews with your line manager / supervisor will give you the opportunity to develop skills both personally and professionally.

  • A Facilities Environmental placement year at Cummins will provide day to day on the job training, by constantly working with cross-functional areas.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Working towards a Degree, with special interest in Environmental studies and policy.

  • Have an interest in the Environmental issues and have the ability to link them to Cummins.

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or commercial environment would be an advantage; particularly within a customer facing / support environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team and use your initiative.

  • Ambition, flexibility and confidence coupled with creativity, imagination and a desire to learn; and a willingness to take on responsibility.
