NPI (New Product Introduction) Placement Student

Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic NPI Placement Student to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Corporate Organization in Huddersfield. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Assist with the company prototype ordering process whilst working in conjunction with multiple functions and purchasing systems to ensure internal and external delivery dates are adhered to. Order management, building supplier relationships, expediting components from global locations, and communicating updates to the prototype team.

• Analysing KPI's and providing weekly & monthly measures to purchasing and prototype teams using excel, PowerPoint to communicate updates. Working with current purchasing teams to obtain purchase order deliverables.

• Assisting the engineering function in sourcing of turbos & components for validation and test work. Works to build relationships with the engineering function to ensure deliverables at met in line with test requirements.

• Working with the VPI technical sourcing team to help on current program requirements through order management, expediting and on time delivery. Background knowledge to help understand and adhere to policies and procedures and champion the VPI purchasing common processes.

• Develop a process to analyse sourcing information and present finding for cost reduction, process improvement while maintaining a high-quality product and delivery of service both within the function and customers both internal and external.

• Support purchasing sourcing management in purchasing activities such as price benchmarking, should cost, cost management analysis using current purchasing tools.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Ability to work independently as well as to work as part of a team.

• Basic Microsoft package experience / An understanding of MRP systems is ideal but not essential.

• Basic knowledge of supply chain practices; Awareness of purchasing ethics and risk management.

• Structured approach to problem solving and of project management, combined with the ability to manage concurrent project and deal with various priorities; Demonstrate working to committed deadlines.
