Summary
This position is designed for students in high schools that schools sponsor, or require, direct shop interaction within companies that have service facilities. The job will provide educational experiences in an area directly related to the course of study or career goals in the Cummins industry.
The design of this program is to provide learning through meaningful and challenging experiences for a student including exposure to the Cummins organization, rules and regulations, exposure and training of working conditions, and company policies and procedures.
This is a temporary position designed to provide initial exposure and training in the Cummins Service locations. The position is expected to run 3 to 6 months with possibility of extension; timing may vary depending on school requirements and schedules. Hours will be approximately 10 to 20 hours per week and may change based on school schedules.
At any time, if the student does not adapt or perform to the expectations of the company, the company reserves the right to immediately terminate the internship / Coop / Work study Program.
Objective
Assist company skilled technicians in understanding their daily work function and obtain insight into the technical requirements of this occupation.
Perform simple mechanic and electrical task while under direct or indirect supervision
Learn and follow typical shop procedures and process
Follow all safety requirements and protocol to insure a safe work event
Learn required work documentation and proper communication skills
Learn the utilization of electronic information tool for performing quality repairs
Proficient with the use of hand and electronic tools
Good housekeeping practices in the shop environment.
To be exposed to parts department operations
Practice good customer relations and good work ethics
Exposure to writing work orders/job orders.
Demonstrate team work and the ability to work with others
Provide the right image for representing our company and exceeding customer expectations
Qualifications
Meet the required lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds
Comfortable with Customer Service
Willing to work as part of a Team
Reliable and dependable
Ability to follow instructions and listen to directions
Computer proficient

This is an internship/Co-Op position anticipated to last 12 weeks with a potential extension beyond
