Performs assembly and machining duties in a combination of work-based learning and academic instruction for a maximum of 19 hours per week. Serves as a pipeline for future Cummins career opportunities.

Operate manual and automated equipment to assemble product in order to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.

Participates as team members to operate and manage assembly to meet the safety, quality, cost and delivery goals and acts as an active member of the team and takes on team representative role responsibilities.

Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks that are defined as part of the production work.

Uses material handling equipment including hoists, hoist inspections, and forklifts to move parts and skids.

Follows process documentation to perform quality checks using gages and other measuring devices; expedites and manages tool change processes; monitors tool usage per operations.

Learns to work in a team environment and the importance of working effectively with others.

Learns and develops problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Performs duties in a diverse climate (e.g., diverse cultures, ideas, and methods).

Takes responsibility for all assignments and duties.

Demonstrates a willingness to learn from others.

Displays a work ethic consistent with desirable Cummins employees.

Interfaces and communicates with internal and external customers; directs people to the appropriate resources; researches solutions and responds to email and phone inquiries; interacts effectively with all levels of employees throughout the company.

Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective actions.

Demonstrates confidentiality as required.

Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.

High School:

Must be at least a junior in high school and 18 years of age.

Must be enrolled in an ICE (Interdisciplinary Cooperative Education) program if participating in School to Work program during school hours.

Must be recommended by school administration or current Cummins employee.

Must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA.

Students are not allowed to work if absent from school.

Must be a US citizen.


Must be seeking a degree or technical certification during the fall and spring.

Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours and a maximum of 19 hours per week.

Must be a US citizen.

Must pass online application and screening process.

Adult Learners:

Must be seeking a High School Equivalency or participating in an Adult Education Learning program.

Must be 18 years of age.

Must be a US citizen.

Must be recommended by Adult Learning Center administration or current Cummins employee.
