Our Power Systems Segment is a global provider of high-speed high-horsepower engines and power generation equipment, including standby and prime power generator sets, alternators, switchgear and other components. Power Systems offers engines, power generation systems, components and services, and alternative-fuel electrical generators for use in residential standby, commercial industrial, mining, marine, rail, oil and gas, defence, data centres, telecom and healthcare applications and industries, to name a few.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially minded individual, with an interest in engineering, looking for a challenging and rewarding experience in a high pace, dynamic, technical sales environment. We are offering a 12-month placement program where you are given an opportunity to contribute to our business, as part of a team, on real projects. You will receive on the job training as well as taking part in a structured Training & Development Programmes designed to provide the skills and competencies required for future graduate roles.

As a Cummins placement you will have the opportunity to work as a member of the Greater Europe Power Systems team, supporting sales operations across a wide variety of countries in Europe and Russia. This will include cross functional work across the Cummins providing you the chance to interact with our customer and distributors as well as other areas of the business, such as; marketing communications, product management, supply chain and engineering. In addition, you will also gain valuable experience of the considerations and complexities of a truly global company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Powergen projects teams and leadership engaged in a wide variety of tasks related to the coordination and management of high value and strategic projects.

  • Be responsible for ensuring the integrity of project critical information reported back to the business.

  • Work and collaborate with the local project managers ensuring latest program information is captured and any potential risks or opportunities are effectively communicated throughout the teams.

  • Maintain and control the strategic projects tracker, ensuring visibility of latest critical project information.

  • Use and become familiar with the Movex operating system, support the projects teams with the administration and maintenance of this system.

  • Support the projects team in technical customer enquiries. Evaluating and disseminating information from our product and engineering teams.

  • Support projects teams with analytics and reporting through utilization of Cummins tools and processes for the sales force, sales management and sales leadership.

  • Embrace the Company values and mission; represent and promote Cummins to the Customer internally and externally.

Required Skills, Qualification and Experience:

Completed or currently studying for College, university, or equivalent degree in Sales Operations / Business Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar required.

  • Willingness to grow and develop within the Cummins family.

  • Commercial acumen and sensitivity.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent IT skills to include Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Flexible and proactive attitude with a desire to learn and take on responsibilities.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Showing interest to expand their knowledge in technical areas such as: Emissions, Diesel / Gas Engines, Renewable energy and systems controls.

To be eligible for our 12 Month work placement you must be a university student who has a placement year option as part of their degree programme. You will spend a year in a specific department to gain real experience in your subject area. You are supported by formal and informal training, and work on projects that add true value to the business.
